Thunder Hill Egg & Bread
Jamison Lee Baggett, owner of Thunder Hill Egg & Bread Stand in Milford, Michigan
Out past the curve of East Commerce and Duck Lake Road in Milford, Michigan, tucked into a quiet family lane, stands a tall, narrow red farm stand with a charm all its own. This is the Thunder Hill Egg & Bread Stand—no catchy name yet, but you’ll remember it. The woman behind it all is Jamison Baggett, known to most as Jamie. She greets you with an easy warmth, dressed in worn boots, jeans, and a perfectly broken-in jacket that looks like it walked out of a 90s Ralph Lauren ad and straight onto the farm. “I don't have a great name, but it's the Thunder Hill Egg and Bread Stand,” Jamie laughs. Her customers don’t seem to mind the name, though, it’s the bread and eggs that they come for.
Jamie started the stand as a project with her two sons. “We got chickens, and I have two little boys, so this is their project for responsibility and growth,” she says. “They take care of the chickens, they collect the eggs… and then we wanted the egg stand so they could start to learn business, communication, socialization, that kind of thing.” Bread came next, just for fun. Now every Saturday at 8 a.m. year-round, she stocks the stand with farm-fresh eggs, sourdough loaves (and sometimes baguettes), homemade lip balm, and sourdough starter kits. Payment is honor system—cash or Venmo. Why the honor system? Jamie simply trusts her community. “These are my neighbors,” Jamie says. “If somebody’s super hungry and needs to take some food, I’d rather them just take it and eat it.”
The magic is in the moments: a pair of dangly chicken earrings left in the cash box by a kind stranger, or a neighbor pausing to chat while choosing a loaf. “There’s something about food and people—even though they’re not eating it here—they’re getting it from me,” Jamie says. “I just thought I was going to be selling eggs and bread, and now I know the lives of the people around me.” Her dad helps set up the stand every Saturday and her husband holds down the fort with the kids. She hopes when people stop by, they feel cozy, cared for, and like they’ve stumbled onto something special. And they sure have.
You can find her at Thunderhill Ranch on Instagram, where she posts updates every Friday. “At the heart of this,” she says, “I’m just a mom who’s doing an egg stand with her kids. It’s not polished and professional—but it’s real, and it’s ours.”
